Rental Homes and Cottage Rentals

Now that we’ve discussed that basics of what a rental homes or a cottage is and the environment it includes you’ll be wondering to yourself what you’ll need to bring for your weekend, week or longer stay.

Rental homes will vary in size so the amount of beds you will have provided may vary from a single-room cottage to a multiple-bedroom cottage for your family or business retreats.  Renters that own cottages usually do not provide linens, blankets and sometime pillows for their guests.  So be sure to ask in advance so you’re not without.

The amount and layout of beds in a rented cottage varies from single-room cottages for couples to multiple-bedroom cottages for families or business retreats. Most cottages usually require renters to bring their own sheets, blankets and sometimes pillows, although some will supply bedding for renters. If a cottage renter does not explain what to bring, always ask. The last thing you want is to have to vacation without a bed.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you will not receive room service as you would with a hotel.  So food is not supplied by the majority of cottage rentals.  So be sure to bring your own food which can be stored in fridges which are found in the majority of cottage rentals.  They often provide an oven, however very few cottages have dishwashers, so be expected to do a little extra work after dinner time. As said before linens are usually not provided.  That is one thing to keep in mind when it comes to cottage rental bathrooms.  Generally you might feel more comfortable using your own towels and such in the bathroom department anyways.  Toiletry items such as shampoo, body wash, toilet paper are also advised to be brought on your own as well.

Getting to a Cottage Rental

The majority of cottage rentals are located in remote locations.  So about 99% of the time the majority travel to these rentals by car.  These cottages are often found at least a 90 minute drive from the city, so driving six hours or more should be expected.  One thing to keep in mind if traveling by car is to ask the owner if there are nearby gas stations along the way.  As no one wishes to be stuck in the middle of nowhere.
If you do not live within driving distance to the cottage rental you chose to visit to there are there other options always in travel.  These include flights, bus, train and sometimes boat services to get you as close as possible to your destination.  From that point you will be expected rent a car and drive the rest of the way. Now that you know what a cottage rental is, what you should bring to your cottage rental and how you’re going to get there, get online and book your rental today!
